Well, I came home and the washing machine had not finished. I presumed it had become unbalanced, so I put it though the spin again. Nothing happened. After some fiddling, I got it to restart the wash cycle on fast mode. But again it stopped. With a front loader you cannot open the door when it contains water. So I opened the inspection hatch to drain the water. At least this way I could get my clothes out. I saw that the hatch actually shows the pump. So I allowed it to run with the hatch open. Lots of water on the floor. Eventually I noticed a bit of bamboo, from the clothes basket, stuck in the impeller. I removed it. It all seems to be working now.
